Brent Xu

Brent is a blockchain startup founder and an early pioneer in the blockchain space. He currently leads a decentralized cross chain protocol designed to bridge multiple blockchains, and has received funding from top tier investors including Polychain, IDEO CoLab, and Coinbase Ventures. Prior to Umee, Brent was the Head of Strategy at Tendermint, the creator of the Cosmos blockchain. His notable contributions include onboarding and growing 25+ DeFi projects and platforms into the Cosmos ecosystem as well as scaling integration efforts with other base layer protocols into the interchain; all while leveraging his extensive network and resources in the space. Prior to Tendermint, Brent was one of the first 30 employees at ConsenSys, the largest blockchain development and incubation company. He led performance testing and protocol benchmarking at ConsenSys where he built a number of products in web 3 infrastructure technology. Prior to blockchain, Brent had 6+ years of experience working in structured finance as a trader and quantitative researcher with a focus on MBS and CMBS products at Academy Securities, a JP Morgan protégé firm. He received his BS in Biology and Statistics from Duke University.
