Matt Crisp

Matt is an entrepreneur, executive and former venture capitalist who is passionate about connecting technology and business with purpose to deliver global impact. Since co-founding Benson Hill, a leading food technology company, he has led the company as its CEO through multiple periods of significant growth, raised more than $600 million of equity capital, executed numerous strategic acquisitions, and completed an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange through a SPAC merger. Prior to Benson Hill, he was the Founding President of the Agricultural Biotechnology Division and Senior Vice President at Intrexon Corporation, a synthetic biology company. In addition to launching the company’s Agbiotech efforts, Matt worked with Intrexon in multiple executive roles and served on its Board of Directors. Prior to Intrexon, he was a Managing Director at Third Security, LLC, a family office- backed venture capital firm with more than $2 billion under management, where he focused on corporate development and worked closely with private and public companies in the life science and technology sectors, as well as led the firm’s West Coast operations. Additionally, Matt co- founded Edison Agrosciences, an agricultural biotechnology company focused on the development of alternative rubber crops, and serves as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Matt holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Radford University, where he formerly served on its Board of Visitors, and as Chairman of the Radford University Foundation Board of Directors.
